PiP State of the Union Winter 2019: Gameshows!

Thursday 11th April 2019

Last Friday 5th April Performance in People (PiP) held their six-monthly ‘State of the Union’ at Ryde Castle. PiP take this opportunity to get all staff together and reflect on the last six months, celebrate success and discuss ways to make the future months even better. In true State of the Union style the day began with an informative business review, delivered by CEO, Mike Dalloz and COO, Alex Breingan, followed by a delicious buffet lunch before an afternoon of teambuilding fun!

The theme for this State of the Union was PiP Gameshows; PiP facilitators created a selection of competitive games for teams to participate in. The games were as follows…

The aim of the game was to try and remember as many items as possible that were seen on the conveyor belt. Points were awarded for each successful recall which contributed to team’s overall score.

The player had to answer a series of questions correctly in order to beat The Chaser, Mike Dalloz (who was only one step behind!). The aim of the game was to reach the end of the set of questions without being caught by the Chaser!

Ollie Pike’s name was randomly selected to play and he had the opportunity to nominate a friend for additional support. Ollie and Kieran successfully beat the Chaser and shared the £100 cash prize!

15 different catchphrase clips were shown and each team had to guess the catchphrase and write them down on their quiz sheet in order to win points.

Each team was shown a close-up image of an item and had to nominate one person from each team to guess the price of it. The image was then zoomed out and the nominated person had 5 seconds to write down the price of the item without the help of other team members. The closest price won 5 points for their team, and if the player got it spot on, they won a whopping 10 points!

It’s as simple as 3 word games, 3 number games and 2 Countdown conundrums!

The teams were asked 9 questions that have been previously asked in a survey of 100 individuals and have been used on the show. The goal was to give a correct answer that was given least frequently by the people surveyed. Each team had to try and score as few points as possible whilst racking their brains to come up with answers no one else could think of.

The Semi-Final! This game was played by the top 2 scoring teams, Blue and Pink, who went head to head! Each player took it in turns to answer a series of questions one-on-one. The person to get the most popular answer won a point for their team. The Blue team banked the most points and got to play the final game!

The Blue team played the final game ‘Who wants to be a millionaire?’. There were 10 question rounds and each player had the chance to win up to £50 each! They only needed to get past the first 5 questions to be guaranteed £10 each. The traditional lifelines were available to use: ask the audience, 50:50, phone a friend and ask Mike.

The majority of the Blue team cashed out early at £30 with the remaining players taking the risk (which luckily paid off) as they took home the full amount plus the remaining cash that the other players didn’t receive!

In addition, PiP provided a great opportunity for staff to win prizes throughout the day. The lucky winners were:

  • Sam Stopher won a George Foreman Grill & Island Foods Meat Bundle
  • Caitlin Evans won a Lightbox & Cineworld voucher
  • Emily Lloyd bagged herself a voucher & travel essentials pack
  • Two £100 John Lewis vouchers were won by Steve Pedrick and Maddie Hayes
  • Ali Lindfield received a bottle of Isle of Wight Mermaid Gin & a bottle of Rum
  • John Aridi received a wine glass set & a £50 Tesco gift voucher
  • Luke Sims won a Polaroid Instant Print Mobile Printer
  • A huge bag of Easter egg goodies was taken home by Imogen Sherratt
  • James Toney won a bluetooth radio speaker

Overall, PiP can safely say everyone had a very enjoyable day and look forward to celebrating further success in the coming months!
