Mental Health Awareness Week at PiP HQ!

This week, Performance in People (PiP) has been supporting Mental Health Awareness Week (13th – 19th May 2019). PiP recognise the importance of looking after your mental health and is continually looking for more ways to promote health and wellbeing.


PiP rounded up a team who organised a jam-packed schedule with a wide variety of activities for staff to get involved with. Daily emails with health & wellbeing tips, motivational desktop backgrounds, fresh fruit deliveries and a selection of herbal teas being available for staff to enjoy were just a couple of new things PiP introduced. PiP also had different daily ‘Deskercises’ for staff to complete with their team each afternoon which helped to help stretch out our muscles and reduce any aches and pains.

And it doesn’t stop there! In addition, the timetable had a number of interesting activities for staff to participate in:

  • ‘The Daily Boost’ Podcast

This podcast helps find clarity, create your play, and get motivated for the day. Scott Smith has been bringing his unique, straight talking, and humorous, coaching and speaking style to a worldwide audience since 2006. With over 26 million downloads, the Daily Boost is the most popular daily motivation programme in history.

  • Lunchtime Walks with Rich and Joely

A walk can do wonders for your wellbeing. It's not just about the occasional one-off feel good factor. Being active has a whole range of benefits when it comes to wellbeing. It improves self-perception, self-esteem, mood, sleep quality, and reduces stress, anxiety and fatigue.

  • Mystery Activities

A different short activity was designed to put a smile on your face every afternoon. Including a new jigsaw puzzle, relaxing colouring in, a fun game of snap, watching a funny video and trying not to laugh, and finally a quiz!

  • Intro to Essential Oils with Susan

Staff were invited to discover how doTERRA natural essential oils can transform the way you manage your health and wellbeing. All attendees received a complimentary oils sample to try before the class.

  • Book Club Launch

This week PiP launched a regular book club! There’s strong evidence that reading for pleasure can increase empathy, improve relationships, reduce symptoms of depression and improve wellbeing throughout life.

  • Relaxation with Susan

Relaxation is a process that decreases the effects of stress on your mind and body. As well as being a great ‘de-stressor’, relaxation comes with many other benefits including lowering blood pressure, improving digestion, reducing muscle tension and pain, improving concentration and mood, controlling anxiety, improving sleep quality and more!

  • Yoga with Susan

Staff were invited to join in on a fun yoga session which included a lot of relaxation and stretching after a long day at their desks. PiP already offer complimentary yoga sessions fortnightly to all staff to promote health and wellbeing.

As you can see, PiP has been really busy putting together a fun-filled and healthy week for all staff to enjoy. Our mental health plays an integral part in how we feel, how we work and for our overall happiness. Don’t forget to take some time out this week for you; do something to care for yourself, remind yourself of what you have to be grateful for and be kind to all people around you 😊
