PiP Smash Tough Mudder in memory of Caleb Toby Smith

Thursday 28th September 2017

On Saturday 23rd September, a team of 26 from Performance in People (PiP) travelled up to Crawley to complete the full Tough Mudder assault course in memory of our Superhero Caleb Toby Smith.

Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile mud and obstacle course designed to drag you out of your comfort zone by testing your physical strength, stamina, and mental grit. With no podiums, winners, or clocks to race against, it’s not about how fast you can cross the finish line. Rather, it’s a challenge that emphasises teamwork, amaraderie, and accomplishing something almost as tough as you are.

WE’VE TRIPLED OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL!

We wanted to raise £500 for the Children’s Ward at St Mary's Hospital on the Isle of Wight who played a massive role in supporting both Caleb and his family. Research Analyst Scott Lawson promised to complete the course in a 10kg weighted vest if we hit our target. And guess what!... We are ecstatic to announce that we have tripled our target with our current fundraising total at £1,500 and counting! This money will make an enormous difference, enhancing the work of the local NHS by providing the ‘extras’ which are not automatically funded by the NHS. Items such as specialist equipment, furniture, artwork, and children’s toys will help improve the environment for patients and staff.

If you haven’t had a chance to donate but would still like to support our cause it’s not too late! Donate here >

SNAPS OF THE DAY

Here are just a handful of snaps from the Tough Mudder challenge to put things into perspective. To see a true representation of the lengths our team were pushed to, watch this short video where we happen to appear on another Mudder’s footage as we tackle ‘The Mud Mile’. (We appear at precisely 2 minutes 17 seconds!)
