PiP Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Wednesday 25th October 2017

Last Friday, 20th October, Performance in People (PiP) showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness month; a worldwide annual campaign involving thousands of organisations, to highlight the importance of breast awareness, education and research.

Around 5,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer this October

More people than ever are surviving, but the reality is that someone is diagnosed every 10 minutes in the UK. This life-threatening disease will abruptly become part of their story and that of their friends and families. That’s why there has never been a greater need for our life changing support today and tomorrow.

OUR FUNDRAISING TOTAL

PiP are thrilled to have raised an impressive grand total of 152.42 for Breast Cancer Now through an array of fundraising activities. Firstly, all staff got into the pink spirit by wearing all things pink (boys included!). We saw a number of pink tops, scarfs, hats, hair accessories and even fairy wings! And it doesn’t stop there… PiP has a number of fantastic bakers at HQ - what a perfect excuse for a cake sale! Staff generously donated a number of sweet treats which were available to enjoy in exchange for a healthy donation. To finish off the day we took part in the charity’s sweepstake game.  The lucky winner of this game was Ellie West who picked number 20.

HOW WILL OUR MONEY HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

  • £5 could provide people with breast cancer the vital answers they need right now by funding five invaluable information resources.
  • £10 could help a younger woman with breast cancer feel less isolated by connecting with others under 45 with the same diagnosis.
  • £50 could help us maintain our supportive online community and allow people with breast cancer to feel less isolated.
  • £500 could help 20 people with breast cancer get the support they desperately need by calling the specialist nurses on our free helpline.
